Hath Er Vasha (Language of the Hand) by Cheiro

Cheiro, (William John Warner) is the most successfull and the most celebrated palmist of the world. He is the most successfull writer on palmistry also. He was a legend in his life time.
Born in Ireland, he took the name "Count Louis Hamon" or "Count Leigh de Hamong" and then, "Cheiro" - derived from "Chiromancy" which means "palmistry".
He had successfully predicted that the King Edward VIII of England will refuse the Throne for his love! This incident became an epic and at that time, Chiro was in the pinnacle of his career! (by the way, Amrita Bazar Patrika of Calcutta was the first news paper in the world to deliver such a "breaking news"!)
In his autobiography, he said that he had learnt palmistry in India and his guru was a Brahmin. Though, some of the Indian scholars has suspected this as a "business gimmick" as in his books he has never described any thing that supports this. Most of the basic points of his style is very much different from the Indian style and much more closed to the European one. As of example, he said the heart line ends under the mount of Mercury but in Indian style it starts from their. He mainly followed Edward Heron-Allen, Captain Casimir Stanislas D'Arpentigny and Adrien Adolphe Desbarolles.
His books of palmistry are the most circulated palmistry books in the world.
But, in my point of view, he is not the greatest writer of the subject. One can read his books as a primary reading.
This books was originally scanned, processed and uploaded by Ayan, the Admin of the most popular and celebrated Bengali books site "pathagar.net". I am grateful to him because he gave me the permission to post it in my blog.
